You may have heard of a “hydraulic press” before, but what is a hydraulic press and what does it do? A hydraulic press is a type of machine that generates an extremely strong force through a hydraulic cylinder containing liquid. A hydraulic press is a machine that uses this force to crush or shape various objects, which is why it is often found in industrial setting. It is a mechanical device and we will discuss about it.
Hydraulic presses are one of the coolest and most exciting gadgets that you could ever see working, especially when it is utilized to crush things at a significant speed! A hydraulic press can crush pretty much anything in a matter of seconds due to the powerful force created by the hydraulic cylinder! It is able to crush small objects such as pens, toys, and even fruits such as apples or oranges. But that's not all! They can also conquer larger items, such as cars, refrigerators and even bowling balls. It is a thing to watch a car get flatten out in seconds. A hydraulic press really puts the squeeze on things, and here are 10 times it did.
Here at ACL we are ever ready to test the awesome capabilities of hydraulic presses. We like to get creative and crash all kinds of stuff. We have smashed everything from beautiful, fragile flowers to tough metal pipes. We just set up one of our favorite tests, crushing soda cans. You know the aluminum cans that hold your favorite drinks? The type of cans that we can squash with our hydraulic press in just a matter of second! It’s really satisfying to hear the loud pop that happens when the can crushes and see it flatten into a disc. The sound is satisfying, and the way the can morphs is always pleasing to see.
But wait, there’s even more that a hydraulic press can do! We have also attempted smashing a variety of other interesting things, such as rubber balls, watermelons, and cakes! We used a bowling ball and a basketball for our rubber ball experiments. You’d assume the football, designed to bounce, would be tougher than the bowling ball. But hydraulic press, it gets us all! With a loud POP, the basketball succumbed to the pressure. Opening up the basketball like a pinata, it was actually shocking to see it not be able to take that kind of force and burst open. That shows you how strong the hydraulic press really is!
