High quality press brake tooling is a significant investment for any metal fabrication shop. However, even the best precision tooling will degrade without proper care. Routine cleaning and maintenance are essential to extend tool life, prevent angle inaccuracies, and protect your workpieces from unsightly scratches.

Follow these three essential steps to keep your press brake tools performing at their best.

1. Daily Cleaning and Mill Scale Removal

During the bending process, carbon steel sheds mill scale, while aluminum leaves behind dangerous residue. If ignored, this debris embeds into the tool v-dies, causing friction and ruining bending accuracy.

• The Fix: At the end of every shift, wipe down your tools. Use a soft cloth or a brass wire brush to gently remove stubborn scale without scratching the tool's hardened surface.

2. De-greasing and Rust Prevention
